We have partnered with a growing church in North Texas as they search for a Community Pastor. Sherman Bible Church exists to bring glory to God by making disciples of Jesus Christ through gospel-centered teaching, gospel-centered worship, gospel-centered community, and gospel-centered mission.

 

The Community Pastor is responsible for all aspects of ensuring Gospel-Centered Community at Sherman Bible. He will assume leadership over important segments of our overall discipleship process. He will provide pastoral oversight and general ministry personally, but more importantly, he will further develop a biblical culture of community through the equipping and leadership of ministry teams to minister to those facing specific life issues and opportunities. The Community Pastor will work closely with all other pastors, especially the other community pastor while reporting to the Executive Pastor.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Love, feed and protect Sherman Bible members through the communication and application of the gospel by …

  • leading out in the development of a gospel-centered culture.

  • providing primary leadership for on-call pastoral support.

  • providing pastoral care including counseling and conducting funerals.

 

Develop and implement a system of follow-up by ...

  • aggressively seeking out guests and inviting them to take their next step.

  • ensuring all requests for information, counseling, and prayer are delivered.

 

Assist guests in taking their next step of connection toward God and into covenant membership by…

  • creating and continuously improving an assimilation system.

  • providing leadership as guests progress through baptism, discovery experience, and membership process.

  • contributing leadership to guest services teams.

 

Equip Sherman Bible members by …

  • integrating members into ministry by recruiting, training and releasing them to minister.

  • recruiting and equipping leaders of ministry teams to minister to ongoing needs.

  • working alongside our deacons, develop processes to support shepherding needs.

 

Provide primary leadership for men’s ministry by …

  • utilizing the all of the above to point men into service and discipleship relationships.

  • planning, overseeing, developing leaders to effectively minister to men.

 

Candidate Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in pastoral ministry

  • Proven track record of developing and leading teams of volunteers

  • Long-term goal is to be a community pastor

  • Extroverted, warm, and strong gathering skills
