Children’s/Family Pastor Job Description
Turning Point Church is seeking a Kids Ministry Champion to provide the leadership, vision and direction necessary to make a lasting impact in the lives of children. The right fit for our team must have a strong passion to minister to families and have
the ability to do so in a fast-paced environment that thrives on reaching people with the gospel in a creative and relevant way.
We are looking for someone who has a proven track record of growth and innovation and can work successfully in a community setting; where focus on family is a high priority. Several years of experience directing a Kid’s ministry as an effective leader of
teams is a must, preferably as the Children’s Pastor/Director in a church of 750+ attendees.
Oversee children’s ministry and develop overall strategy for a successful family ministry.
-Oversee the selection of curriculum & other educational materials needed for programs/activities
-Building, recruiting & training a solid volunteer base
-Organizing kids ministry services on Sunday & Wednesday nights
-Providing vision and leadership for direction & strategy for implementation
-Creating and innovating new ways to reach children/families in the community
-Provide administrative leadership for long-range planning, budgeting and calendar coordination
-Establish annual goals that are consistent with overall church mission, vision and values
-Oversee planning /preparation of all Kids ministry/family related events (kids camp, VBS, Fall Fest etc.)
-Communicate consistently with parents and assist in providing tools to equip families spiritually
-Meet with Staff weekly to coordinate & prepare for all church events/Sunday services
-Has a love for Christ, His Word and the Church and is a mature Christ follower growing in grace
-A team player who demonstrates a willing attitude to serve as needed to further TPC’s Mission
-Have a conscientious work ethic- able to work at a fast pace within a variety of settings, maintaining a flexible attitude in changing environments
-Ability to design a fresh model of children’s ministry, which fits Turning Point’s culture and is in sync with future growth and overall vision or the church
-Be a self starter, good at multi-taking and prioritizing projects
-Able to work well with all types of personalities in a team setting, striving for unity in vision
-Creative, detail oriented and decisive with the ability to organize, coordinate work, set priorities & maintain systems
-Experience as a high capacity Children’s ministry leader, pastor or director in a large church setting
-Ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality & handle controversial issues with grace
-Degree from a four-year college or university is preferred, however 5-7 years experience and/or training in a large church setting is accepted
-Demonstrates leadership skills and has the ability to motivate others
